What you need to know

CES — mandatory exam for maritime officers

The CES-6.0 computer qualification exam is conducted in accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 30.12.2022 No. 1499. It is mandatory for all seafarers obtaining their first or subsequent officer rank, as well as for diploma confirmation when there is insufficient service time.

Passing this exam is a necessary condition for continuing a career in the maritime industry. Details regarding exam locations, fees, and application procedures are provided below.

Where and when to take

Current Locations and Cost of the CES Exam

The CES-6.0 exam is conducted in specially equipped centers in Ukraine and Poland. You can choose a convenient city and date from the available options.

📍 Addresses and Schedule:

  • Kyiv — 23 Preobrazhenska St. (Morrichservice Center)
    Exam days: Tuesday and Friday
  • Odesa — 39 M. Hrushevskyi St.
    Exam days: Tuesday and Friday
  • Warsaw — 53 Jagiellonska St.
    Exam days: daily except Saturday and Sunday

💰 Exam Fee:

  • Kyiv, Odesa — 4800 UAH
  • Warsaw — 10,200 UAH

A retake is possible after 10 days if you do not pass on the first attempt.
Trial testing is also available: 2400 UAH (Kyiv, Odesa) / 3600 UAH (Warsaw).

How to register

Application procedure and list of required documents

You can apply for the CES-6.0 exam in several ways — choose the one that is convenient for you.

📝 Application methods:

  • In person or through a trusted representative at the “Morrichservice” Center
    Download power of attorney sample
  • By mail
  • Online — via the “Diia” portal (if supported)

📄 What to prepare:

  • Seafarer’s passport or other document confirming identity and citizenship
  • Tax Identification Number (TIN)
  • Application (if submitted by a representative)
  • Exam invitation (sent after application submission)

🧾 On the exam day:

  • Bring originals of all documents and payment receipt
  • Identity verification is done via photo capture
  • Use of gadgets, notes, and prompts is prohibited
  • 1 minute is given per question
  • To pass, correctly answer at least 70% of the questions
  • After passing, you will receive a certificate valid for 5 years
