When applying for a Polish seafarer’s passport, questions often arise about additional
documents. In particular, about the Pesel and Profil Zaufany.
📌 What is a Pesel?
It’s a personal identification number in Poland (11 digits).
It’s needed to:
— identify you in the system
— process documents
— use government services
📌 What is a Profil Zaufany?
It’s an electronic signature
It can be used to:
— submit documents online
— verify your identity
— use government portals
❗️Important
You cannot apply for a Pesel and Profil Zaufany remotely!
You must come to Poland in person and contact a government agency.
📄 Why do seafarers need these documents?
If you apply for a seafarer’s passport online, a PESEL and Profil Zaufany are required.
If you apply in person at the captain’s office, you can do without them.
