Most seafarers only remember to update them when they’ve already signed a contract and are running out of time.
They’re in a rush, stressed out, and risk simply missing their voyage.
To avoid this, pay attention to these signs:
1️⃣ You have six months or less left until your documents expire.
It may seem like there’s still plenty of time, but in reality, the renewal and confirmation process can take much longer than you expect.
2️⃣ You’re planning to change companies or embark on a new voyage.
The employer requires a complete set of documents—without delays and “I’ll finish it later.”
3️⃣ You haven’t updated your certificates or checked the requirements in a while.
Some documents may no longer meet current requirements, and the training center may lose its accreditation.
‼️Don’t let things get to the point where you need everything “by yesterday.”
