US consulates have become much more thorough in checking seafarers’ documents.
What’s important when applying for a C1/D visa:
✔️ A valid contract
✔️ A letter of guarantee from the company
✔️ Full vessel information
✔️ Port of embarkation
✔️ US agent information
But the key is that all this information must match and be logical.
For example:
— the contract dates correspond to the route
— the port of embarkation actually corresponds to the vessel’s route
Any error or inconsistency can raise additional questions or lead to a refusal.
