We’ve compiled the most frequently asked questions about applying for a residence permit for you — our answers are brief and to the point 👇

1️⃣ On what basis is a residence permit issued?
We issue Slovakian residence permits based on temporary protection.
First, on the day of application, you receive temporary protection (until 2027) on paper, and then, based on this, a 3-year residence permit is issued in the form of a plastic card.

2️⃣ If one family member has obtained a residence permit, does it also apply to the others?
No. Each family member must apply separately.
One person’s residence permit does not automatically grant status to other relatives.

3️⃣ I already have temporary protection from another country. Do I need to renounce it?
No, you don’t need to renounce it. You can obtain a Slovakian residence permit without renouncing your temporary protection in another country.
