One of the most frequently asked questions we receive from seafarers from Europe is:
“If I apply for a PESEL, will I lose my status or temporary protection in my current country?”
Let’s find out 👇
📌 What is a PESEL
A PESEL is an 11-digit Polish identification number. It is used to identify a person in Polish government registers. Without it, it is impossible to apply for a Polish seafarer’s passport remotely.
This is done in person in Poland.
📌 What is a Profil Zaufany
A Profil Zaufany is a verified account for communication with Polish government agencies, allowing you to verify your identity and sign documents online.
It can be obtained, for example, through a supported Polish bank or by verifying your identity at a special verification point in Poland.
👀 Does this affect your status or temporary protection?
No. Neither the PESEL nor the Profil Zaufany affect your temporary protection or status in another country.
We process PESELs without Ukrainian status.
👉 Therefore, these are the tools needed to apply for a Polish seafarer’s passport remotely. Nothing more.
