⚓️ More and more seafarers in Ukraine are facing serious problems obtaining and renewing their Seaman’s Passport (SPP).

One case:
The renewal documents were submitted back in late April at the “urgent” rate—over 7,000 UAH. In May, a response arrived: there was no record of the renewal in the logbook. As a result, a criminal case has been opened. $1,500 has already been spent on a lawyer. There is hope that the case will be closed by mid-October, and then they will be able to submit the documents again.

💬 In the comments, seafarers write: “I’ve been waiting for 8 months… there are already more than 165 such seafarers in Ukraine with open criminal cases.”

❗️The problem has become widespread. Seafarers find themselves held hostage by the system, losing time and money, and risking their careers.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: Don’t renew your seafarer’s passports “in the garage.” And if you’ve already done so, don’t submit the document for renewal, otherwise you risk repeating the same story.

Colleagues, how are you doing with your seafarer’s passports? Have you encountered anything similar? Share your experiences 👇
