In the Gulf of Aden, off the coast of Yemen, a Liberian-flagged merchant vessel was attacked while transiting a dangerous area of the Red Sea. The incident occurred in early December 2025.

According to maritime security authorities, a small boat carrying armed men approached the vessel at high speed. The attackers opened fire with small arms and attempted to close in for a possible boarding.

🍔The crew immediately implemented the vessel security plan: they sounded the alarm, increased speed, and deployed defensive measures. As a result, the attempted attack was thwarted, the attackers retreated, and the vessel continued its voyage without damage.

There were no injuries among the crew. Naval forces operating in the region have been notified of the incident.

❗️ Risks remain during transit through the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb, despite the international naval presence. Shipping companies and crews are advised to maintain heightened readiness and strictly observe safety precautions when transiting this area.
