From January 1, 2026, all ships must comply with the IMO ban on the use of PFOS-based firefighting foam concentrates, in accordance with the amended SOLAS Chapter II-2 and the HSC Codes.
PFOS, once prized for its performance, is now banned due to serious environmental and health risks such as persistent pollution, bioaccumulation, and toxicity.
✈️ Check your onboard supplies, test existing foams, and replace any non-compliant products before the next inspection.
