- Prices are displayed in levs and euros.
- Rounding is mathematically correct.
- Salaries, pensions, and social benefits are always adjusted in favor of citizens.
- Unjustified price increases are prohibited.
🏦 Banks and accounts (from January 1, 2026)
- All accounts are automatically converted to euros without commission
- IBAN will not change
- Salaries and payments will be in euros only
- ATMs will switch to issuing euros
❗️ Cash levs until the end of 2025 You can deposit your money at a bank account — on January 1st, they are automatically and free of charge converted into euros.
🔄 Cash: Double circulation from January 1st to January 31st, 2026
- You can pay in both BGN and EUR
- Change — only in euros (if the merchant doesn’t have euros, change is entirely in leva)
- January 31st is the last day to accept leva
❗️Exchange leva after January 1st, 2026. From February 1st, 2026 — only euros
🏦 Commercial banks
- Until June 30th, 2026 — free exchange
- After that — banks may impose a commission
📮 Bulgarian Post Offices — free exchange within limits for the first 6 months
🏛 BNB (National Bank of Bulgaria). Exchange levs for euros free of charge, with no limits or expiration dates.

Check price tags and receipts—in case of violations, file a complaint with the KZP
The exchange rate is fixed—no “good deals”
Banks and the National Bank do not go door-to-door to exchange currency
