March 28, 2026 – China concluded two days of talks with a Philippine delegation on territorial disputes in the South China Sea.
🇨🇳China called on the Philippines to create conditions for stabilizing bilateral relations. The two sides held a “frank and in-depth” exchange of views on international and regional issues.
🇵🇭The Philippines emphasized its principles and expressed concern over incidents affecting the safety of crews and fishermen.
🤝Both countries noted progress on practical measures to enhance maritime confidence, including maritime security, enforcement of Philippine laws, and cooperation in marine science and technology.
⚠️China formally protested recent “violations and provocations” by the Philippines and called for maritime issues to be resolved through dialogue.
🔹The last formal negotiations on the dispute took place in January 2025. The Philippines is currently expressing interest in joint oil and gas projects with China and is also seeking oil and fertilizer supplies following disruptions due to the war in Iran.
🫡 Mariners: Be especially vigilant when navigating this area, exercise caution, and monitor security updates.
