At a meeting of the IMO Environmental Protection Committee, a majority of leading flag states—Liberia and Panama—supported postponing the implementation of the Net Zero Framework (NZF). Only the Marshall Islands, Singapore, and Malta opposed it.

🚢 NZF is a system that sets global standards for reducing CO₂ emissions in shipping: the transition to cleaner fuels, carbon trading, and new requirements for ships.

A delay of approximately one year gives shipowners time to prepare, but creates uncertainty—especially as the EU and UK are already introducing their own “green” charges.

🔍 For crews, this means that the transition to new fuels is slowing down, but training and environmental awareness remain a priority.
