Information from the Polish Captain’s Office regarding obtaining a Polish seafarer’s passport:
New basic safety training requirements will come into effect on January 1, 2026, in accordance with amendments to the STCW Code, Standard A-VI/1-4, adopted by resolution MSC.560(108).
These changes are mandatory for all seafarers, regardless of nationality.
❗️ All Basic Safety Training Certificates:
🟢A-VI/1-1
🟢A-VI/1-2
🟢A-VI/1-3
🟢A-VI/1-4
must be replaced with updated certificates before embarkation after 01.01.2026
🆕 What’s included in the new certificates:
Training institutions are now required to train seafarers on the amendments to Standard A-VI/1-4, which include:
🔘Prevention of violence and harassment,
🔘Prevention of sexual harassment,
🔘Prevention of bullying and sexual violence,
🔘Response to such incidents.
The new SOLAS certificate will state: “Incorporating amendments to STCW Code A-VI/1-4 adopted by MSC.560(108)”
❗️Attention all masters!!! Please arrange a meeting with all your crew members and inform them to renew their SOLAS certificate as soon as they return home.
