Following a series of attacks on tankers linked to the Russian “shadow fleet,” insurance premiums for vessels entering the Black Sea have risen sharply. The cost of military insurance for calls to ports in the region has risen from the previous 0.25–0.30% of the vessel’s value to ~1%.

📈 According to insurance broker Marsh, this is the sharpest rate increase since the end of 2023, driven by the threat of further strikes and possible retaliatory operations.

🟢 For calls to Ukrainian ports, military risk premiums have risen from approximately 0.4% to 0.5%.
🟢For Russian ports, the situation is even more dire—premiums have risen to 0.65–0.8%, and in some cases even higher.
