The Government of the Republic of Moldova has officially extended the temporary protection regime for Ukrainian citizens for another year—until March 1, 2027.

Unlike previous years, the extension will no longer be automatic. To maintain your status, you must submit an online application.

How to extend your status:

🟠 Application deadline: February 1 to April 30, 2026
🟠 Application form: online through the government platform
🟠 Review: General Inspectorate for Migration in conjunction with the Intelligence and Security Service
🟠 Review period: up to 90 days

If all conditions are met, your status is extended automatically in the system. A personal visit is not required; the document’s current status can be checked using the QR code.

🧒Children:

🟢The application includes information about children studying in Moldova; separate reporting is no longer necessary.
🟢Minors with temporary protection who turned 14 between March 1, 2023 and January 1, 2026, are required to appear in person at the migration service to provide fingerprints.
Authorities explain the changes by the need to update data on the actual residence of Ukrainians, as well as to ensure stable access to education, healthcare, and the labor market.
Since March 1, 2023, more than 87,000 Ukrainians have applied for temporary protection in Moldova, approximately 20,000 of whom are children.
