MSC Cruises, one of the world’s largest cruise operators, has announced a major investment project: the company has placed an order for two new World Class ships at the French shipyard Chantiers de l’Atlantique. The total investment will be €3.5 billion.

The new ships will be the seventh and eighth in the World Class line and will be built to an updated design with a focus on environmental friendliness and energy efficiency. Their delivery is scheduled for 2030 and 2031, with construction starting in 2029.

⚙️ What is known about the new ships:

🟢 They will run on LNG and are ready to use biofuels and synthetic fuels;
🟢 They will be built with an improved hull architecture to reduce energy consumption;
🟢 will be part of MSC’s strategy to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050;
🟢 will continue Europe’s largest cruise fleet investment program.

With the new contract, MSC’s total order volume in France exceeds €10.5 billion, making the company the largest customer in the French shipbuilding industry.
