On August 26, the government approved the privatization of 99.5% of the shares of the Odessa Port Plant. In the near future, the enterprise will be put up for an open electronic auction with a starting price of UAH 4.5 billion.

What does this mean in practice?

🟦 The new owner is obliged to keep the plant operating for at least 5 years
🟦 Invest at least UAH 500 million in production
🟦 Pay off wage and tax debts within a year
🟦 Fulfill social and environmental obligations

⚙️ The Odessa Port Plant is one of the largest chemical complexes in Ukraine, which produced ammonia, urea and other fertilizers, and also has strategic handling facilities in Yuzhny. In recent years, the plant has been practically idle, only individual sections and the port were operating

💬 The authorities call the sale “a chance to attract investment and revive production”
