β
What is important to know:
π¦ The system applies to trips of up to 90 days within any 180 days (short-term stay).
π¦ Instead of stamps in the passport, there will be digital registration.
π¦ The following data will be collected:
β a photo of the face,
β fingerprints of 4 fingers (for persons aged 12 and over),
β passport details,
β date, place of entry/exit and cases of entry refusal.
How it will work:
β All passengers must exit the transport to undergo biometrics.
β On trains, the procedure depends on the specific checkpoint.
β Refusal to provide biometric data = legal grounds for entry refusal.
βWhy is this being introduced:
β to control compliance with the terms of stay in the EU,
β to prevent the use of forged documents,
β to increase the level of security in the Schengen area countries.
