The system will replace passport stamps and automatically record all entries and exits of third-country nationals, including Moldovan citizens.

📌What will change:

🟢 When crossing the Schengen area for the first time, you will be required to undergo biometric registration—giving your fingerprints and taking a facial photo.
🟢 All entry data will be stored in a single EU database.
🟢 The system will track lengths of stay and prevent visa violations.

👮‍♂️ The EES will be implemented in stages from October 12, 2025 to April 10, 2026, in all 29 Schengen countries. Self-service kiosks are already being installed in Chisinau, and instructions are being prepared in Romanian, Russian, and English.

Moldova is not in the Schengen Area, but thousands of passengers fly through Chisinau to the EU—to Romania, Hungary, Austria, and Greece. Therefore, the airport is informing travelers in advance and preparing the infrastructure: after departure from Chisinau, biometric registration will take place on the Schengen side, for example, at Bucharest Airport.

🍔 The goal of this innovation is to enhance security, speed up border control, and ensure more accurate entry and exit tracking.
