The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) has unveiled a 10-year investment plan worth over $8 billion. The goal is to strengthen the canal’s strategic role in global trade and improve its sustainability.

⛑️ Key projects:

🟢Construction of the Rio Indio Dam to guarantee water supply and transit stability
🟢Creation of a 76-kilometer pipeline for transporting liquefied natural gas between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans
🟢Development of road infrastructure connecting the two coasts
🟢Construction of container and ro-ro terminals

Construction of the dam is scheduled to begin in 2027, with completion no earlier than 2032. The cost is estimated at $1.6 billion.

💡 The Panama Canal will undergo extensive modernization in the coming years, which may impact ship transit schedules and logistics routes.
