The Royal Navy intercepted a Russian warship in its territorial waters: this is the first time a British ship has acted under direct NATO orders, rather than from London, according to Sky News.

In the North Sea, the British destroyer HMS Duncan and a Wildcat helicopter intercepted the Russian ship Vice-Admiral Kulakov. The French Navy and a Dutch NH90 helicopter also participated in the operation.

💬 Armed Forces Secretary Al Carnes stated that the Royal Navy is “ready to respond to any activity by the Russian Navy.”

The operation took place amid reports of Ukraine using British Storm Shadow missiles in a strike on a target in Russia.
