The US Coast Guard reported a record-breaking operation in the Eastern Pacific Ocean. As part of Operation Pacific Viper, US forces intercepted a high-speed smuggling vessel and seized more than 20,000 pounds of cocaine—approximately 9 tons, with a street value exceeding $1.1 billion.

🔘The interception was carried out by the USCGC Munro, along with an air group. A Coast Guard helicopter opened targeted fire on the vessel’s “go-fast” engines to stop the drug traffickers. This tactic is used only in particularly large operations.

🔘After stopping the vessel, the Munro crew boarded and discovered a multi-ton cargo of cocaine, carefully packaged and prepared for onward transit. This is the largest drug seizure from a single vessel in 18 years.
