A second floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) will be installed adjacent to the existing Ertuğrul Gazi FSRU in Dörtol, doubling the facility’s daily capacity from ~28 million m³ to 56 million m³.
Another new FSRU is planned on the Mediterranean coast (near Anamur or between Gazipaşa and Anamur).
✈️ Overall goal: Increase daily LNG intake to 200 million m³ over the next two years (from the current ~160 million m³), covering almost half of Turkey’s daily natural gas needs.
📈 This step strengthens energy supply security, enables more competitive LNG pricing, and diversifies supply sources beyond pipelines and domestic production. Black Sea. Design work is already underway, and BOTAŞ is handling the integration.
The Ertuğrul Gazi (in operation since 2018) just completed its 139th ship-to-ship transfer, confirming the system’s reliability.
