Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH) has signed a new agreement with Italian shipbuilding group Fincantieri for the construction of three cruise ships. The contract secures the company production slots at European shipyards until 2037, intensifying competition for shipbuilding capacity in the region.
🇮🇹 According to the operator, one new ship will be delivered to each of the group’s key brands—Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises, and Regent Seven Seas Cruises. Construction will take place at Fincantieri’s Italian shipyards, with delivery scheduled for 2036–2037.
💵 The company notes that upfront payment obligations under the contract will be limited in the early stages, with the main financing expected to come from export credit agencies after delivery. The new order is part of a long-term strategy for moderate fleet expansion.
📋 With the signing of the agreement, NCLH’s total order book has increased to 17 ships:
— eight new ships for Norwegian Cruise Line by 2037,
— five for Oceania Cruises,
— four for Regent Seven Seas Cruises. The expected capacity growth is estimated at approximately 4% annually until 2037.
