In practice, many sailors make mistakes and don’t receive their diploma on the first try. Below are the basic requirements π
π 1. Education and Continuing Education
Here’s the key detail that’s often overlooked:
β If you have a master’s or specialist’s degree, continuing education courses are NOT required.
β If you have a bachelor’s degree, these courses are MANDATORY.
π 2. Experience
You must have at least 12 months of experience as a watch officer.
π 3. Medical Examination
A valid Ukrainian medical examination specifically for a senior officer is required.
(Important: not for any other position.)
π 4. Document Verification
All diplomas submitted for assignment must be verified on the website of the Maritime Administration of Ukraine.
This point is often underestimated, and without it, documents simply won’t be accepted.
π 5. CES Test
You must pass the test to become a senior officer.
The requirements themselves are simple, but each point has nuances that can affect your qualifications. Slow down the process.
