Many seafarers begin the process of obtaining the rank without understanding what documents and certifications are actually required.
To become a deck officer, you will need:
✅ Age 18+
✅ A valid Ukrainian medical examination for documents
✅ Academic diploma
✅ Certificates
✅ GMDSS diploma or GMDSS CES test results
✅ Confirmed practical training of at least 12 months from an educational institution or at least 36 months of experience
✅ CES test for deck officers or EDKI
Important: If your academic diploma was received less than 5 years ago, certificates are not required.
