In recent days, information has been circulating online about a “harsh bill” for foreigners in Poland, including deportation for fines and new citizenship requirements.
📌 Let’s break it down:
This is an initiative by members of the Law and Justice party.
‼️ Important:
This is not a law, but a proposal under discussion.
No changes have yet entered into force.
🔺 What is being proposed (according to the discussions):
— Increase the period of residence for citizenship
— Tighten language requirements
— Add integration exams
— Revise marriage regulations
— Strengthen grounds for deportation
⚠️ However:
These formulations are being circulated and do not always correspond to actual legal documents.
🗣How is it in Poland now?
🔺Citizenship
— usually 8-10 years of residence
— marriage — faster (after permanent residence)
🔺Language
— B1 level is sufficient
🔺Deportation
— applied for serious violations
— security threat
— systemic problems with the law
❗️ A parking fine or speeding ticket is not grounds for deportation
🗣 Viral posts mixed:
— genuine discussions
— political statements
— and highly simplified (or distorted) conclusions
As a result, it seems that:
👉 “You can be deported for two fines”
👉 “Citizenship is now granted after 10 years instead of 3”
— which is not true
As of today:
✔️ The rules have NOT changed
✔️ No new requirements have been introduced
✔️ Deportation for minor offenses No violations are applied.
📌 Everything being discussed is political proposals, not existing law.
⚠️ There’s a lot of buzz about Poland online right now.
But it’s important to understand:
👉 These aren’t new rules.
👉 This isn’t a law that’s been passed.
👉 These are only potential changes that haven’t even passed parliament yet.
If something is actually passed, then we’ll discuss the specifics and consequences.
