Sooner or later, almost every seafarer thinks about it. But a shore transfer isn’t just about “sending out a resume.” It’s about making sure your experience is read and understood.

Here are 3 life hacks that will help you find a shore job 👇

Life hack 1. Reformat your CV
A shore-based employer doesn’t speak or think in the language of the sea. They won’t understand the phrase “officer of the watch on a 75,000 DWT vessel.” If you’re applying shore-based, you need to completely reformat your CV.

Not “officer of the watch”—it’s about managing a crew. Not “was on watch”—it’s about responsibility for safety.
It’s the same experience. Just in a different language.

Life hack 2. Create a LinkedIn profile
Most shore-based positions in the maritime industry are filled through LinkedIn and personal recommendations. For shore-based employment, this is no longer “desirable.” It’s a must.

3️⃣ Lifehack 3. Write a Cover Letter + Introduction Letter
Onshore employers read letters carefully. They need to understand why the seafarer is going ashore and how their experience applies to the new role. Without answering these two questions, a CV, even with a perfect format, won’t work.

Seafaring experience is incredibly valuable onshore. But only if it’s packaged correctly and communicated to the right people.

📌 We’ll help you properly format your CV for shore-based companies, compose your cover letters, and set up your LinkedIn profile so employers find you. 👌
